A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
